SOF Gwinnett Board Members
Tim Thornberry, Board of Directors President
Tim is a financial planner with an office in Suwanee. Tim was a platoon sergeant with the Marines, serving in Iraq. He is the service officer to the American Legion Post 251 in Duluth, coordinating benefits and assisting veterans in need.
George Rhode, Board of Directors Vice President
George had been a resident of Gwinnett since 1980. He was medically retired from the Army in 1975. He is a full time community volunteer and can be found working on many fundraisers in the Duluth area.
Renie Vics, Board of Directors Treasurer
Renie is a retired nurse with a long history of community service. She splits her time between Duluth GA and Albany NY. She is the proud mother of 4 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Jesse Vics, Secretary
Jesse received an honorable discharge from the Air Force in 1962. He is a retired doctor with a long list of community service projects. He is wearing many hats for Sentinels of Freedom –Gwinnett, one of them being the man in charge of PR.

Alice Hoskins
Alice is a Realtor with Virtual Properties Plus Realty in Gwinnett County. She heads up the housing committee. She is the mother of two adult children and has volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, Homeless shelters, Relay for Life, Hands on Atlanta, and is a Christian Missionary.
Linda Adams
Linda has recently retired from the Air Force as a Lt. Col. She served as a flight nurse during Desert Storm. She is presently a case worker at St. Joseph’s hospital. She has lived in Lawrenceville for the last 3 years which has allowed her to enjoy her grandchildren on a regular basis.
Al Brown
Al graduated from Shorter College with a BA. Then served 12 years in the Marine Corps and discharged as a Captain. Al has been very active with Gwinnett County Chamber of Commerce and various business associations in Gwinnett County. He currently serves as the head of Marketing for a local insurance company.
Gil Guggenheimer
Gil served in USAF for 11 years as a Command Transportation Officer. Handled aeromedical evacuation flights that picked up the wounded being taken to hospitals. Has extensive marketing and management experience and is skilled in technology and computer programming. Gil has a B.S. in Industrial Management with a minor in Sociology.
The Community's Role
The SOF Group started as a grassroots promise to accept responsibility for the well being of severely injured men and women of
the U.S. Armed Forces who are returning to civilian life
and show promise for bright and productive futures.
